Body hair overlays that really stick
Jul. 11th, 2009 07:08 pmWhen I found the body hair overlay by Inkyfish, it was love at first sight. Choice of different hairs, automatically matching the genetic hair of the sim, and can be applied to any skintone. There was just one problem - once you quit the lot or the game, you had to reapply the overlay every time you wanted to return to that sim. Annoying in gameplay, frustrating as hell for storytellers with a lot of male characters and extras ![]()
Then Marhis came along with her fixed version, only she used a different hair. Which is fine - variety is great - but it didn't solve my problem with the original object. So, after trying unsuccessfully to figure out what was changed where to make it work properly, I decided to ask Marhis for a hand. She very nicely gave me all the info I could ever need, and now with her help I bring you:
Hair overlays that really stick!
I could have used the original pic to show them off, but decided against it. Much better for you to see them all working in my own game, right? (Well, it would, but the image has been lost - sorry)

This was a bugger to fix, simply because of the different sets contained in the controller. The sets are numbered as above - 4a does have arm and leg hair, but it's very fine compared to the others. This one download does contain all 5 sets of fur packed into the one crate, and weighs in at 9.37MB for those of you wondering.
Things you need to know
- This object requires Seasons, since it's applied in the same way as the sunburn and frostbite overlays. Sorry about that.
- It will not conflict with Marhis's upload - she made a clone and gave her object a new GUID. I haven't touched that on this object.
- This is a fixed version of the original overlay by Inkyfish, and will overwrite his/her version. No deleting necessary if you have the old one.
- Since the original item is also a clone, it will play nice with any other overlay tools you may have (e.g. tattoos)
- Like the original, this applies the teen and elder versions of the hair sets just fine. Forgot to get a pic, soz

Credits
- Morague for coming up with the original idea, and for writing the tutorial on making your own
- AllenABQ for the hair overlays
- Inkyfish for the overlay object itself
- Marhis for helping me fix this so it really does stick
- All the makers of SimPE, without which none of this would even exist
Download (link has finally been fixed; sorry, not been on here for ages)

Date: 2009-07-20 03:42 am (UTC)You're my fav person right now!! ^_^
I can't live w/o AllenABQ skins, but never got to d/l the other overlay before. Love the fact that can be used to give some hair to aliens easily (I even made a few sets just so Johnny and Nine could have some, ROFL!!!)
So, Is this the only file I need for the overlay to work?? and Do you know If I can use them with the original ABQ files in the game still?? (all my main sims already have skins, but because they are not replacement taking them out is a pain lol)
Thank so much for this!! <3

Date: 2009-07-20 03:27 pm (UTC)You need to extract all the files from the rar, but all you need is in the one download. They also work fine with any skin - as I hope the men in that picture illustrate - so if you have hairy skins already, you just don't need to apply the overlay to those sims. You do however need to go through each sim you want to give body hair and set them up, but at least now you only need to do it once ;)
